These beautiful round baskets have been hand woven from kaisa grass with date palm wrapped around it. Baskets are commonly made from kaisa because of the sturdy nature of the grass, making this basket robust enough for everyday use. Hand crafted by skilled artisans working with Valerian Handicrafts, one of our fair trade partners in Bangladesh.

Who made my product?

The women artisans of Valerian come from six villages across rural Bangladesh. They gather to work together in village spaces, sharing and learning together, making intricate and beautiful baskets from natural environmentally friendly resources. These ethnic minority artisans increase their self-worth and reduce discrimination through the generation of income from their traditional skills.
